New York and Hollywood have long been hailed as the ideal locations for video shooting and production, but our own beautiful capital city, London has so much to offer. With stunning architecture, diverse communities and rolling green parks there is so much within the city to capture. The wealth of talent within the video industry in London too is starting to put London on the map as a creative hub for impactful video production. Below we’ve looked at some of the best videos that have been produced or shot in London.

The beautiful ‘Justino’ produced for the Spanish lottery was produced (in collaboration with others) by Passion Pictures London. Through animation, it tells the story of Justino a night-time caretaker, looking after the building for his colleagues, but never quite feeling part of the team – until his colleagues surprise him by adding him into their lottery sweepstake. The heart-warming story was released at Christmas to much praise for Leo Burnett Madrid, the agency who managed the advert and the production agencies involved.

It would be hard not to highlight a couple of the great retail Christmas ads that have been produced over the years. Lidl’s ‘A Lidl bit of Christmas magic’ campaign was produced by London-based film studio Nutmeg Productions. With a rapid turnaround of 10 days, the video had to show 8 different recipe ideas using Lidl ingredients. Working with celebrity chefs Lesley Waters and Nick Nairn, the studio turned the advert around within the brand’s deadline, producing a highly entertaining and informative Christmas advert to compete with their retail rivals.

Another amazing animation from Passion Pictures London was Sainsbury’s 2016 ‘The greatest gift’ Christmas advert, with a theme tune sung by James Corden. The video combined stop-motion techniques to create incredible animations using tried and tested and new methods. The advert was directed by BAFTA nominee Sam Fell and was considered a huge success for the supermarket in the annual retail Christmas advert competition.
