To inspire visitors and the Friends of Westonbirt with the vision for the next ten years. As the national arboretum, Westonbirt has a key part to play in education, participation and conservation and this film was to launch these key themes. It was to be a sensory feast that combined cinematic visuals, bold graphics and inspiring music with an environmental message that would stay with the audience long after the video has ended.
How We Did It
It was a cold November day and in the darkness before dawn we were worried that many of the trees had already lost their leaves. But once the drone was in the air we could see splashes of colour from the pools of fallen leaves. Our awesome drone crew not only flew the drone above the trees, but also flew alongside our cast through the woodland and along paths. Once we'd edited the film the colour grade brought out all the autumn richness.
The brief was to give the 'bigger picture' of the arboretum's role as a world leader in trees. Which of course meant this would be a drone epic to show the glory of the trees and their impact on people. We helped Westonbirt to source free contributors for our filming, including my niece and our client's fiance who played the part of 'the young couple' - beautifully.
The Friends of Westonbirt are really pleased with the video and very happy with how the launch went.
