It may seem like an odd statement, but audio quality can be more important than picture quality in video. Just think about it – you can sit through a poorly lit Ted Talk, but if you can’t hear what the person is saying you’ll turn off straight away.

Good audio holds a video together. For us the audio is the foundation to a video – whether that’s cutting to the rhythm of an upbeat music track, the rich tones of your interviewee or atmospheric sounds gathered on location.

When it comes to the edit, we treat audio and visuals as separate layers.  When the picture cuts the audio often extends underneath to provide a seamless viewing experience for our audience.  Alternatively, we might pre-empt the next shot with the sound of the next speaker or a machine starting up so that our viewers know where they’re going next.

The sound mixing stage of video production is one of those unseen (but often heard) stages.  Our clients may not be aware of what it is that makes their video look so professional, but make the sound jumpy and distorted and they are immediately aware that something’s not right.

Take a look at the video we created for Atlantis Resources to see what we mean.
