What’s the difference between motion graphics, graphic design and animation?
Animation is the term used to describe moving imagery; everything from classic 2D cartoons like Tom and Jerry, to the stop-motion creations of Aardman Animations. Essentially, any technique that makes static objects or images appear to move can be considered animation.
Motion graphics, on the other hand, is a specific type of animation. It focuses on the movement of graphic design elements. Motion graphics can be used to create engaging presentations, explainer videos, and animated logos.
You can use the graphic design elements created by our designers for static visuals to broaden the reach of your campaign.
Traditional animation typically involves storytelling with characters and plots. Motion graphics are primarily used to convey information or illustrate concepts using animated text, shapes, and other graphic elements.
You’re based in Bristol. Do you work across the UK?
Absolutely! Animation doesn’t require us to do any filming on location. Our animators will deliver drafts for online review at every stage of production and we hold regular update meetings over Teams.
What’s an animated explainer?
An animated explainer is a short, engaging video that uses animation to clearly and succinctly explain how a product or service works. These videos are designed to simplify complex ideas, making them easily understandable and visually appealing. Animated explainers are often used in marketing, education, and training to convey information and capture the audience’s attention.
What sort of illustrations do you offer?
We offer a range of illustration styles tailored to your brand guidelines and animation needs. Our illustrators are experts at 2D character design, vector graphics, concept art, storyboarding, and custom illustrations to bring your ideas to life.
Which is better, animation or live-action video?
We appreciate both formats for their unique strengths. The best choice depends on your specific needs and goals. Contact us with your brief, and we offer a free consultation on which format will work better for you and why.
What’s cheaper – animation or live action?
It depends. The expense of live-action video is in the production team, equipment, and location setup. The expense of animation is in the development of the concept, bespoke illustrations and the time it takes to create a video when you’re starting from a blank canvas.
You pay more for 3D or CGI animation due to the increased complexity and resources required.
