7 inspiring COP26 videos on the net

With storms, floods and wildfires intensifying around the world, climate change is surely the greatest risk facing us all. To fight against it, the UK along with its partner Italy, will be hosting COP26, the 26th United Nations climate change conference, which aims to get runaway climate change under control through 4 main goals:

Secure global net zero by mid-century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach

Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats

Mobilise finance

Work together to deliver

Many big brands such as GSK, Sainsburys, Ikea and Microsoft partner with COP26 and support the conference by providing vital expertise, commitment and action to help tackle climate change.

In the run up to COP26, these brands have been sharing their commitment to COP26 through video. Here are some of our favourites:

McDonald’s – Change a little, change a lot

McDonald’s demonstrate the little changes they are making to reduce their impact on the planet in this short, engaging video. Utilising a mixture of aspect ratios and frame rates to keep the viewers engaged they show how all the little changes add up and make a big impact.

WWF – Our Climate, Our Future

Over the top of a lovely animation style that feels like it’s come straight out of a children’s book, a young voice speaks to us about the challenges our planet is facing and how we can make change through COP26.

Hitachi – World’s first zero carbon powered film

As a principal partner of COP26, Hitachi created this film which was powered with zero carbon emissions. A dramatic, cinematic video narrated by Sir Sam Mendes.

Sky Zero – The Day the Moon came to Earth

This awe-inspiring video sees the moon come down to earth and observe the beauty of our planet. Worry sets in as it discovers all of the damage we have done but it finds hope in the actions we are taking to make a better future.

The Scottish Government – Let’s do net zero

As the hosts of the COP26 conference, Scotland created this video to demonstrate their conviction and the actions they are taking to be net zero by 2045.

Sainsbury’s – Helping everyone eat better

Sainsbury’s are encouraging people to eat healthier while also helping the planet in their ‘Helping Everyone Eat Better’ campaign. These videos aim to make the transition from our current diets into more vegetarian and vegan options easier through going “halfest” and mixing your minced meats with lentils or chickpeas (and more). Babysteps!

Greenpeace – #Drivechange

In this 4 minute video, Greenpeace Japan and Korea imagines an utopian life in the year 2051. The film follows the lives of five ‘haters’; an angry petrolhead; a Greenpeace campaign who saved the Amazon rainforest; a parent who despises nature – in scenes where their lives are changed by zero-emission engines (and not for the best). It’s funny, poignant and positive. The video was created to show off the impact of carbon emissions for an emission-free world ahead of COP26.
